1968 Chevelle SS 396 Project

Post by Chronos » Mon Aug 08, 2011 6:26 pm

Well after blowing a tire on the dolley on the way up and spending 20 bucks to fix it we continued our journey from the speed shop we stopped at and looked at the car. Decided it was in decent shape and loaded it up to come home. about half way home we decide to stop and look at a trailer my dad and I saw on the way up. Park the truck get out I turn around and see smoke coming from the back of the car. Well it turned out that someone forgot to mention that there was no diff cover on the rear end and we were running it dry the whole way home and the left rear tire was now seized up. Of course it starts raining while were waiting for the tow truck to come to carry it home, bearing cools off enough in the rear end and frees up. So needless to say my project car costed me somewhat more then I wanted to pay but you live and learn. Anyways enjoy the pics and I'll update the thread as the project moves along  :)

Niceeeee  I like. I had a 1968 Camaro SS 396.  :)  I loved it. It was mint factory except the hood. They had a scoop put in for more instruments.

Sorry Roscoe no engine or trans in it, I'm thinking either another 396 or an upgrade to a 454 well see what happens

Put a 454 in it!!!
We sleep safe in our beds because rough men and women stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.

I want to build up a nice 396 however there rare to come around these days so I'm thinking 454 unless I can find someone that will part with a 396. I have other things to worry about before coming to that though.

Btw chris I'm not going with some boosted LS7 shit. Trying to keep it realistic to what you would of found in a 68 chevelle back then aside from the fact that it will prob be fuel injected. Maybe an LSX 454 :O
