New System

Post by LuckyEddie » Tue Jun 18, 2019 10:13 am

Howdy!

So, last Friday my system took a power hit, and of course it fried something. My motherboard to be exact, the Northbridge chip. All kinds of IO errors after that. Totally bummed I was.

Then my boss, yes I work, when I got to the office (I normally work from home, but I couldn't do that without a computer that was already set up for it) he offered me one of his old systems to use. I'd have to set it up, add a few things, and rebuild my hard drive (yeah, that crashed real hard as well). Hey, anything is better than the lump of clay my system had turned into, right? So I took him up on his offer. Yesterday I got it from him.

OMG, the case is HUGE!!! Easily 30 inches by 30 inches! Twice the size of my old case, and it weighs a TON! Then I opened it up. Here is a short list of what it has.

ASUS Crosshair Formula V motherboard (AM3+ socket)
48gig of RAM (Dont remember the name of it, gaming RAM, 12800)
AMD FX-8120 processor
Corsair Liquid Cooling system (2 fans)
BFG Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX video board (Mine is a better one, I have a Zotac Geforce 1060)
Fans! Like 4 of them, some of them more than 10 inches across! Not including the CPU cooling fans mind you.

The only problem so far is the audio does not work. Fixable with an add-on Soundblaster card of some kind. NewEgg here I come. I had to add my HD's, video board, and power supply. All in good shape even after the power hit.

If you haven't bought a sound card, yet, let me know. I have at least one just collecting dust around here.

Nope, waiting until I get paid.

So, tell me about it. And what do you need (cash, address, etc)?

So far its great! Love the RAM, and the processor is nothing to sneeze at. Better than I had, and the price was right. :)
